Each of our bio-certified beeswax wraps is produced by hand in our manufacture in Frankfurt/Main. Our workshop is located in the urban core of the city and we see this place as an island where our ideal of the world prevails.

Because our company places great importance on treating people, animals and nature with respect, strict and regular controls of all ingredients and production steps are so important. In order to guarantee the quality of our products in the long term, we rely not only on the expertise of our own team – a beekeeper and a biologist – but also on the certification of our products by three different testing centres: the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the NCP Standard (Nature Care Product) and the Testing Centre for Organic Agriculture (Prüfstelle für ökologischen Landbau).

Companies that are committed to the well-being of the earth and its oceans bear a special responsibility. This is reflected not least in the selection of our product ingredients. At Wildwax Tuch, we have placed great value on natural, fairly traded and naturally consumable raw materials since the beginning of our beeswax cloth production.

Our Raw Materials

We use food-compatible coconut oil derived from certified organic farming. In that way, we support small farmers and a fair trade. The coconut fat in our cloth has an antibacterial effect and makes it extremely durable.

The fabric we use is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton from Germany. The certificate guarantees the sustainable production of natural textiles worldwide. From the extraction of raw fibre, through environmentally friendly and socially responsible production, to the labelling of the end products. Due to the loosely woven cotton, the Wildwax cloth can absorb a maximum of beeswax and still breathe. As a result, hardly any condensation forms between the food and the cloth.

Our spruce resin comes from France and is sustainably mined. The trees are given several years’ time before they can be harvested again. By using natural spruce resin, the Wildwax wraps are extremely durable and flexible.

Special attention is paid to the most important raw material: beeswax. Here, we rely on high-quality and untreated organic beeswax, which, in contrast to chemically purified wax, still contains all its valuable ingredients. We work together with exclusively German organic beekeepers, whose central concern is species-appropriate beekeeping. Here the animals can follow their natural instincts, which not only contributes to the health of the animals but also to the quality of the wax.

In these bees’ hives, no foreign middle walls are used that make it easier for the beekeeper to harvest honey but are not natural. Thus, all honeycombs are freshly built by the bees themselves. This wax is low in pollutants and rich in propolis and contributes to the health of the bees and the quality of the wax. Propolis is produced by bees against bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms in the hive. In organic beekeeping, there is also no queens breeding – the bees can swarm anytime. The beekeeper is not concerned with the highest possible honey yield, but the respectful handling of the animals.

Our Company/Corporation

We see our company as an ideal place for human togetherness. It is important to us that our employees enjoy working with us. For that purpose, we encourage equal communication through flat hierarchies. We look after each other and there is room for individual needs and abilities. Our team cooks and eats together, communicates with each other and has a strong team spirit, even in stressful phases. Every birthday is celebrated, every grief is shared. Our employees’ children are always welcome – no advance notice necessary. Working together and learning from each other in a respectful way is our interpretation of fair working conditions.

Diversity and gender equality are important social aspects for us that are lived in our company. Each employee brings different life experiences and cultural backgrounds to the Wildwax family and enriches our being together through his / her personality. We do not judge but give each and every one new opportunities.

Wildwax is transparent – we reveal income and expenses and our employees can decide for themselves about their work and holiday time. There is no fixed shift schedule – everyone is free to come and go as they please. This has created an organic and natural working environment that makes us happy and thankful.

The Packaging

We use as little as possible for our plastic-free packaging. The material consists of recycled cardboard and glassine, which protects the Wildwax wraps on their journey to our customers. We ship co2-neutral and plastic free.

To conserve resources, the Instructions for Use sit directly on the packaging, instead of using a separate piece of paper. The boxes are imprinted with water-based ink.

We work with local printers to promote the local economy.

For the production of the packaging (folding and gluing), we work together with Frankfurter Verein. The association employs homeless fellow citizens, as well as people with mental disturbances and women who are in emergency situations.
